Floating-Gate Circuits for Adaptation of Saccadic Eye Movement Accuracy

چکیده
In this paper we describe an analog VLSI circuit, fabricated using a standard 2 m, n-well, BiCMOS process, which utilizes oating-gate structures for non-volatile, on-chip, analog parameter storage. This circuit is designed to operate in the context of a hardware model of the primate oculomotor system and performs visually-guided, saccadic adaptation. The chip contains a one-dimensional array of photoreceptors and oating-gate circuits which are used to map retinal positions to motor output commands. The system's functionality is demonstrated by training the chip with several di erent mapping functions using a supervised-learning technique.

An autozeroing floating-gate amplifier with gain adaptation
Paul Hasler and Paul D. Smith Georgia Institute of Technology Atlanta, GA 30332-0250 [email protected] ABSTRACT Recently, we have characterized and modeled oating-gate circuits that adapt their oating-gate charge based upon statistics of the incoming signal. In this paper, we show signal-dependant adaptation in three oating-gate circuits. First, we show classic autozeroing oating-gate ampli...
متن کاملSaccadic adaptation depends on object selection: evidence from between- and within-object saccadic eye movements.
The accuracy of saccadic eye movements is maintained by saccadic adaptation. Post-saccadic visual feedback about the error between the target position and the saccade endpoint is crucial to the adaptive process. The present experiments examine the adaptation of saccades that select a new target object (between-object saccades) and that of saccades that would not aim for a selected target but ex...
متن کاملSaccadic adaptation induced by a perceptual task.
The human motor system and muscles are subject to fluctuations in the short and long term. Motor adaptation is classically thought of as a low-level process that compensates for the error between predicted and executed movements in order to maintain movement accuracy. Contrary to a low-level account, accurate movements might be only a means to support high-level behavioral and perceptual goals....
متن کاملBrain Processing of Visual Information during Fast Eye Movements Maintains Motor Performance
Movement accuracy depends crucially on the ability to detect errors while actions are being performed. When inaccuracies occur repeatedly, both an immediate motor correction and a progressive adaptation of the motor command can unfold. Of all the movements in the motor repertoire of humans, saccadic eye movements are the fastest. Due to the high speed of saccades, and to the impairment of visua...
متن کاملA neural model of saccadic eye movement control explains task-specific adaptation
Multiple brain learning sites are needed to calibrate the accuracy of saccadic eye movements. This is true because saccades can be made reactively to visual cues, attentively to visual or auditory cues, or planned in response to memory cues using visual, parietal, and prefrontal cortex, as well as superior colliculus, cerebellum, and reticular formation. The organization of these sites can be p...
